VIKINGS BEAT GIANTS

Vikings d. Giants 22-9 in Week 1.

by 📋 Y1 W1 MIN @ NYG (22-9)

VIKINGS CONTROL LINE OF SCRIMMAGE, DOMINATE GIANTS IN WEEK 1

The Vikings came to MetLife and established exactly what they wanted to do from the opening kickoff: run the football and impose their will. With 209 rushing yards, Minnesota's ground game was the story of this one. The Giants' defense couldn't find an answer up front, and you saw it reflected in the final score. The Vikings weren't flashy—they were efficient. One turnover, solid third down conversion rate at 21%, and they made their red zone opportunities count when it mattered. That's complementary football.

What's concerning for New York is the efficiency gap between these two offenses. The Giants actually out-gained Minnesota in passing yards (157 to 115), but it didn't translate to points. They went 0-for-2 in the red zone while Minnesota converted 1-of-4. That's the difference between a competitive game and a 13-point loss. The Giants' third down woes—just 29% conversion rate—kept their offense off the field and their defense gassed. You can't sustain drives like that against a team that's going to control the clock with their rushing attack.

For a Week 1 matchup, the Vikings showed they can execute a blueprint and stick to it. No turnovers, no mistakes, just methodical offense. The Giants have some work to do on both sides of the ball before next week. This is exactly the kind of statement-making performance that sets the tone for how a team wants to be perceived in a competitive league.
